Todd StruppLike many young kids, I would pick up a piece of wood, grab my pocket knife and just start carving. As time went on, I just never stopped. In my spare time I was always doing some kind of art, weather carving, sculpting or just building something. I have always been passionate about people and creating. Antlered Mugworks began over twenty years ago when I made my first horn mug. I saw a gentleman drinking from a horn cup with an antler handle (who is now a friend of mine). I was really impressed with the whole idea and concept as it was made from horn, wood and antler, three pieces of nature. So...I went home and made one. After crafting my first mug, I experimented with what I could do to add artwork and design to the piece. I used a wood burning pen to put images on the horn and started carving the antler handles. I blended paint to some of the burned images to bring them "more to life." About four years ago, I took my artwork to my first live show. I sold everything I brought. It was an incredible overwhelming feeling to watch people's reactions and how much they liked and admired my artwork. As time went on, I took my artwork to bigger venues. I soon realized I needed a name for my business...Antlered Mugworks came to life. As the interest and demand in my work continued to grow, I then took it to the next level. I quit my job and put all my energy into my art. It is hard to put into words how wonderful that my passion for artwork has become what I now do for a living. I put my heart and high level of energy into everything I do including each piece of artwork I craft and create. It's a great honor when someone enjoys my work.
